Silo ventilation and grain aeration<\/h2>

Stored grain is a living product: if temperature and moisture rise, insects, moulds and heating spots develop quickly. Effective silo ventilation blows ambient air through the grain mass to cool it, even out temperatures and preserve its quality until it is sold or processed. MECAVENT sizes silo ventilation fans according to the type of grain, the height of the bulk, the silo diameter and the airflow rate required per cubic metre.<\/p>

For flour mills, malt houses and agricultural cooperatives, we supply aeration fans for flat stores and silos, high-pressure fans for grain dryers, and fans for pneumatic conveying of grain, flour and by-products. Silencers and acoustic enclosures can be added where silos are close to housing.<\/p>

Dust extraction and explosion protection<\/h3>

Handling grain and flour generates fine dust, which can lead to a dust explosion<\/a> if it is not controlled. Alongside silo ventilation, we design dust extraction systems with filters, welded ductwork and ATEX fans for elevators, conveyors, intake pits and loading points.<\/p>

Retrofits and replacements<\/h3>

Grain Aeration and Cooling<\/h2>

Proper silo ventilation lowers stock temperature, limits insect and mold development, and preserves grain quality until dispatch. Our aeration fans are dimensioned according to grain type, grain height and the specific airflow required per tonne stored. <\/p>

Fans for Grain Dryers<\/h2>

Dryers require high flow rates in a hot, dusty environment. We supply robust fans with variable frequency drive control to adjust flow to grain moisture and reduce energy consumption. <\/p>

Pneumatic Conveying of Grain and Flour<\/h2>

For pneumatic conveying, we dimension high-pressure fans suited to the product, flow rate and network length, taking abrasion into account. For connections in contact with flour, our food-grade flexible connectors<\/a> comply with EC Regulation 1935\/2004. <\/p>

ATEX Dust Extraction<\/h2>

Grain and flour dust is explosive. At receiving, handling and cleaning stations, we supply dust extractors (bag filters, cartridge filters, cyclones) and fans suited to the ATEX zoning defined by the operator. <\/p>

Are aeration fans noisy?<\/h3>

Aeration often runs at night, when the air is cooler, which can disturb the neighborhood. We offer acoustic enclosures and silencers to meet noise requirements. <\/p>

Can you replace an existing fan?<\/h3>

Yes. We design replacement fans based on the performance and footprint of the existing unit, regardless of its original brand. <\/p>
